Matrix Logo History

We are sometimes asked about our logo, what the shield means and the symbolism. I am searching the memory bank here, which is always a scary proposition. But if I recall correctly, it was created by Erin Lingo, with input from others including Ivan Medellin. Anyway, here is the description:

Star=celestial goodness, noble person

Wreath of laurel leaves and berries= Triumph

Gold= Generosity and elevation of the mind

White=  Peace and sincerity

Maroon= Patient in battle, and yet victorious

Matrix Players in the News

Updated:

Matrix U19B player and Southwest High Boys’ Varsity member Jess Bojorquez was in the feature photo accompanying an article in the Star-News about his school’s first place finish in South Bay League play. And Nicole Rea and Natalie ‘Jelly’ Morales helped make news at San Ysidro High, where their experiences as freshmen varsity players included the first playoff matches in their school’s history. Jelly was also mentioned in the Star-News for her goal in a league match that clinched San Ysidro’s league title. Nicole and Jelly were on the U14G Matrix last fall, and are looking to carry over their success to the upcoming State Cup. In addition, this week’s El Latino weekly Spanish-language newspaper ran a team photo and extended caption of the U10G Gonzalez team in the youngers’ State Cup.

Way to go!

Hello world!

On behalf of our Board, I would like to welcome you to the online newsletter blog of South Bay AYSO/South Bay Matrix FC. AYSO is an all-volunteer organization, so the recruitment of volunteers is important for the stability of our region. All of our volunteers must meet certain criteria and training before being handed the responsibility of training our youth. The ages of children range from 4 years old to 18 years old. Our children have grown through AYSO and some have returned as volunteer coaches. It brings a sense of pride to see our former players in varsity high school soccer and playing at major universities.  Our AYSO Matrix club program offers a more competitive level of training and player development

Help us help our youth grow in a positive, active environment. I welcome you to join us in developing the youth of our community.

Yours in Soccer,

Marco A. Beltran

Regional Commissioner
