A dramatic run in the highly competitive State Cup Presidents Division ended as finalists for our AYSO South Bay Matrix Elite girls Under-13 team. The squad lost to Santa Monica United in the championship match on Sunday, March 1 but won over our community. To get to the title match, the South Bay girls had to defeat teams from Rebels, Nado, and Inland Empire Surf just to name a few. We can’t say enough about our South Bay girls. They made AYSO proud, South Bay Region 712, our communities of South San Diego, San Ysidro, and Imperial Beach. Our girls were home grown–made in the South Bay. They showed what a talented team and talented coaches can do when they stay together. Congratulations to all the players, coaches and parents.
